The continuation of 2007’s Undisputed Truth finds Ali and Ant back in the basement doing what they do best. Real as Can Be is the usual update on Ali’s life that listeners had come to expect, while Little Rodney and Philistine David add to Ali’s political commentary tackling the prison industrial complex and unjust occupation of Palestine, respectively. Ali explores the dichotomy of being a practicing Muslim in the music business on Good Lord and flexes his MC muscles on Talkin’ My Shit and The Believers. The EP concludes with Begin Here, an ode to the unifying power of personal songwriting that sets the tone perfectly to the duo’s next full length offering.
The original CD release included a bonus DVD of Brother Ali’s homecoming performance from The Undisputed Truth Tour in June of 2007. Ali, along with longtime tour DJ BK-One and Twin Cities veteran MC/community leader Toki Wright, rocked a sold-out First Avenue performance to commemorate the team’s first headlining tour and a breakout album.
